Earlier post regarded Elk Lake,OR as a place to avoid.  New owners in 1999 have changed the attitude.  The new owners are hiker friendly and concerned about the prior reputation.  Although the store doesn't offer much and the restaurant has a limited menu they are trying.  New expansion could make this a great stop.
