Contests are ok, but it really doesn't make any difference of who's carrying 
what.

Wouldn't it be neat to have a nighttime slideshow by a former thru-hiker with 
some cool pics of what's coming up?  

A few worthy pictures of the trail and the "thing there" at the border, in a 
positive atmosphere (good people, burgers and beer) will carry someone a lot 
longer, than, what pack, tent or stove they happen to be taking.

Visualize it!
