The Sierra are a big deal for PCT hikers -- the big deal. Anyone who leaves
Kennedy Meadows not knowing what to expect knows what I mean. You hike along for
weeks on end through these peaceful, beautiful mountains (even with their random
snow dumps and random border bandits) and then BAM, you turn a corner and you're
in heaven -- or hell, depending on the season. Northern Cali is great, but it's
like comparing the Chicago Art Institute with the Louvre -- they're both great,
but one is the real McCoy.
