[pct-l] Portions of the PCT

I know I am totally crazy to bring this up and say what I'm about to,
for I'm sure I'll be eaten alive, but here goes. Why is there such an
extreme over concentration about everything having to do with the PCT in
the Sierra? as compared to other parts of the PCT?

Whether it be weather, bears, types of trails, horses (complaints of),
plant life, rock formations (yes, there are other places that have
granite other than the Sierra) it is all too often, to suit my taste,
that we hear so much about them. Don't get me wrong, the beauty of the
Sierra is absolutely awesome and the higher elevation than some other
parts of California make for an experience that is unbelievable. When I
was a child the first place I ever remember going to and being awed by
all of it, was Yosemite.

That being said, there is still one hell of a lot of exquisite beauty,
wild animals and unique environments, and, best of all, virtually no
people in most of the California PCT. Consequently, for an example,
minimal bear issues in Northern California (Silicon Valley and San
Francisco are NOT Northern California).

I will not go on further about what the rest of California or Oregon or
Washington have and all their unique vegetation, rock formations, plant
life, etc. for I know I am already in deep enough trouble. What I am
trying to get across is that the Sierra are incredible, almost no words
to describe them, but, that does NOT mean it should get more than its
fair share of attention and conversations about the PCT. Certain areas
of danger aside.

So, there you go. Being from Yreka in Siskiyou County (Mt. Shasta) with
Trinity, Russian and Marble Wilderness we really do take pride in "our"
home and I for one do get tired of too much of some areas and not enough
of others.

Thanks for listening. PLEASE, don't start a war over this.
