greetings from the green mountain state!

i have lurked long enough, now let me dust off my voyeuristic tendencies and 
pose a question to past cali thru-hikers.  i have hiked oregon and washington 
states and had little water difficulties.  however, i know that water is an 
issue especially in southern california.  i am planning a california hike, 
and am curious how accurate the guidebook is concerning water availibility.  
can anyone offer any advice/suggestions on this?
