No public transportation out of Sierra City in either direction. The trail
head is about 1 mile northeast (towards Truckee) out of town, but it might
be worth while hiking into town. The previous note on being a
hiker-friendly town is right on; also, the speed limit through town is
25mpg so getting a hitch from a passing car might be easier. People will be
going to a number of different destinations out of Sierra City so you might
consider a sign.
