When I thruhiked the AT in 2014 I kept a medium sized (10,000 mAh
maybe, I forget) charger strapped to the top of my bag. Even in the
partial sunlight under the canopy I generally had a full charge at the
end of the day. I also did not have one of the pointlessly powerhungry
phones that are all the rage these days though, so your mileage may
varry.
