When I did section I over Labor Day, 2005, the Kerrick Creek crossing was
a joke. If I had been a little more agile, I think I could have crossed
with dry feet jumping from rocks. As it was I waded through slow water
up to mid-shin. That was after a normal winter.

Nobody's laughing this year though, and I am reserved to do section I again
this Labor Day. I hope that four more weeks of hot weather will reduce the
danger level back to normal. I am really afraid of fast water.

An alternative that I want to redo would be Reds Meadow to Muir Trail
Ranch. In that part, the anxieties are Bear Creek, Mono Creek, and
North Fork Mono Creek.

Late in 2008, those were no problem.
