[pct-l] Desolation Wilderness this summer

Hi AllI am planning to hike from Echo Lake to hwy 40 this summer. I am a slow hiker 10-12 a day and would like to limit nights out to 3I have a few questions:- Do I need permits and if so where can I get them?- Are bear canister mandatory?- Is the PCT accessible by regular car at Bear Lake Road (one of the options to cut the hike to two)- Is the PCT accessible from Alpine Meadows ski area? do they have summer lifts to get to highest point which seems very close to the trail?
