I apologize that my point was misunderstood.  Animals DO suffer from oil drilling - fluids used to lubricate oil rig piping leach toxic chemicals into the water, not to mention the ramifications of a pipe bursting on a rig or a ship involved in an oil spill when hundreds of birds and other sea life end up covered in it.  Operations on land like refineries cause soil and water issues that are detrimental to wildlife.

Obviously, all the products we use have affects that we need to consider before we make a purchase.
I was merely trying to point out that down is not the only product that we consume when buying outdoor gear that may have detrimental affects to wildlife.
