I put my food in a Zpacks bag and just left it next to my Hexamid tarp for most of the trail, including Oregon. My theory was it was next to me, discouraging unconditioned critters, while still far enough away that I wouldn't be blocking any previously conditioned animals from aggressively pursuing my food.

I’ve backpacked many a night in Oregon with my food and stove in an Opsak bag kept in the tent with me without any problems. She feels that’s too dangerous. What’s the general consensus out there? What are most people doing in terms of storing their food at night?
