I know many of you are wrapped up in last minute plans for this year's trip (yay!) but I'm hoping there might be a Canadian out there who can share some info about travel documents for my 2017 trip.  

I am a Canadian resident residing in BC and am wondering what documents I need in order to stay in the US for the length of time it will take me to hike the trail (presumably mid-April to end of September?).  Do I need to obtain a VISA?  Other documents?  This is the first time I will be spending this length of time in the US so have no previous experience.  I searched the pct-l archives concerning this subject but didn't find anything so far.  
Also if a Canadian can weigh in on their opinion of the best travel insurance (coverage, cost, usability etc). I would greatly appreciate it too!  
And for all you 2016 hikers, HAVE FUN, play safe, HYOH and I'm very excited to hear about all your adventures!!!!!!
