[pct-l] Trekking Poles

The Walmart poles may have changed but last year I tried them in the store and when I put my weight on them they would not support my weight & slowly collapsed.
FWIW I weigh about 150 lbs.
For cheap poles I would try ski poles at a tag sale or flea market.

And if you really want to
get some perspective, first try the aluminum poles at
Walmart. Cheap (around $20) and very strong. Would qualify
for use by Boy Scouts.....if I could get them to stop having
sword fights.

Poles: highly recommended for
balance, for taking stress off knees etc on long downhills,
aid in crossings, etc. I went looking for the ones that
would pack down as short as possible, for ease of packing on
the airplane. 5 or 6 years ago, that was the Black Diamond
flick-lock's ('Mountaineer' poles, I think?) -
no doubt there are cheaper and lighter ones out there.

Head to Costco for a set that's
strong and light carbon fibre and easy-to-use external
flip-locks.

asked a few times but I am debating to buy trekking poles or
not (at this moment I am leaning toward buying them). Just
wondering what everyones thoughts are on the best trekking
poles that wont clean out my wallet. Thank you!
