[pct-l] running on the PCT (Laura Reed)

The forest service does limit the size of the races to limit damage and issues with other trail users. Other than the start, runners get spread out fairly quick. Running does not cause anymore damage than hiking, maybe less since the shoes they use are considerably less aggressive.

As I recall, many of the National Parks and Forests I have visited limit group size to prevent damage to the trails etc.  Do not these running events overload the trails with people, not walking, but running and would that not result in impacting the trail even more in a negative way?
