[pct-l] Osprey Kestral Pack

Hey Bender,

I went with the Kestral 48 S/M because it's lighter with a smaller volume
than the Kestral 58. The 48 S/M worked very well for me. Go “lighter” than
a 58L? Kind of depends on your preferences for your “fewer ounces / more
budget” ratio. If you stay with your 58, you might discover it is very easy
to stick a large bag of chips in the top when you leave a trailhead/trail
town/resupply junction. Next time thru the Sierra my Kestral 48 with my
BearVault 450 combined with my HYOH preferences/strategy (perhaps including
one ideally located bear box) will take me from KM to Red's Meadow (no
Whitney side-trip). If you have never been to VVR, I highly recommend it
for “resupply.” [More: I really like the light-weight rain-cover in the
small external pocket that comes with the Kestral. Other: I'm with the
stove-less minority. Sidenote: recently I was able to check out the
entire new set of new Osprey Exos packs in Malaysia -- very, very nice]

Best wishes for a wonderful trek !
