Hey Leah,

You're on a great web site right here for learning lots, Also get on the
different fb pages which are more active, but don't give quite the detailed
discussions that you get here, but they are excellent sites for learning.
Some of them are" Lightweight Backpacking Safety, run by Warner Springs
Monte, a great guy, Pacific Crest Trail, PCT Class of 2015 and there are
others as well, but these are some of the best. Also, send for a copy of
Yogi's PCT Guide. She updates it each year, but you can get the updates on
her website as they come out, so even getting it early is fine. The main
reason for getting it early however is reading all the info from prior thru
hikers that it contains. She's got a whole new crowd this year and I'm
sure it'll give you great reading and just the kind of info you're needing
at this point. Also, the Wilderness Press Guides are great for basic info
about the trail's history and geology and much more, but they are not as
practical as Yogi's guide for actually hiking the trail. There's also lots
of video's out there by Squatch, or Shane O'Donnell and his Team Bad Wizard
films. Google any of those names and you'll find em. And right off the
top, join the PCTA (go to their website) to get their bimonthly magazine
the Communicator and to support the organization that fights to improve,
protect and expand the PCT.

There's so much more, but this is a start.
