There were a bunch last year who started March 1st. There are rides to get
you guys back to KO. The more you hikers can spread yourselves out.....the
easier it is on the small businesses, trail angels and POs. For us up in
Washington the length of the trail gets you spread out. Also, the earlier
you can hit Northern Washington the less chance of rain and no new snow. We
had hikers coming in NOBO last year in August. Some were just fast, some
started early and some had done flips of the Sierras. The flips hit the
border, got their pics and flipped back down to the north side of the
Sierras and go south. That way you get the most compact with no new snow in
the Sierras. All depends how you want your hike to go. It's one option that
we have seen a bunch in the past go for. Most hikers only feel a true NOBO
or SOBO is the only way to go. Work with Mother Nature and you may have an
easier experience.
