Tom,
I carried an iPhone 5 ( 4.0 oz), Suntactics s5 solar charger ( 8.4 oz), 
and an Anker 3000mAh lipstick battery ( 2.7oz) along with the necessary 
cords and a 120v USB outlet for town. I initially started by plugging 
the cellphone directly into the solar charger which worked throughout 
sunny SoCal, but once I got into forests I found the best arrangement 
was to plug the battery into the solar charger all day and when I 
stopped to camp I would plug the battery into the cellphone.
