I only had PF once. It was really painful. Limped from Steamboat Springs to the Mexican border. Caused by bad choice in shoes. Lots of stretching helped. The best thing I ever did was get custom orthotics. Strong leg muscles and ankles. But my feet still roll in. The orthotics keep my arch in proper alignment. Then my knees and ankles do what they are supposed to. Mine get replaced every two years by insurance but I put too many miles on them so in between I buy them. I also stopped trying to get max miles out of my shoes. No matter what they wear out before I want them to.

I do think my Altra Lone Peaks may be part of the problem, so will be replacing them with a more traditional trail runner. I did buy "plantar fasciitis heel pads" at Walgreen's the other day, wore them in my Lone Peaks for a hike yesterday, and had much less pain during the hike than I'd been having, though my foot sure hurt afterward. Maybe the pads in traditional shoes would help more. I'm definitely going to look for a different podiatrist covered by my insurance, since this one didn't even look at the 3 pairs of shoes I took in to show him.
