All you say is so true! I like the Ursack for my food bag because it is more supportive than a nylon bag and rodent proof.....and I sleep with my food.

Andrew.

As I live in Portland I have hiked the state extensively. No there is really no threat to your food from bears in Oregon, we have black ones that have been hunted by man foe years so they are pretty shy. Yes you can sleep with your food if you want. I don’t. I hang my food nightly. The reason is I have woken up many times to rodents off all persuasions nibbling on my food. They like to nibble holes in tents, backpacks and food bags when they can reach them. I have religiously hung my food fro the past 15 years and have enjoyed rodent free food. Some of my camp mates have learned the hard way.
This is of course just my humble opinion and I am sure many more will him in with theirs. So do what you feel best about doing it only takes 2 to 3 mins to hang a food bag.
