I know it's an old solution,but when I was working as a hiking guide, some of my clients had started taking Glucosamine for 6 months. They(more than a few) had gone from not being to walk up and down stairs to hiking in the Vanc north shore mtns every weekend. Most of my hikers used poles. Stay hydrated. That means drinking much more than just being satiated. Humans may be the only animals who do not drink as much as they really need. As soon as we are "mouth happy" we tend to stop. It cushions the joints. You need water to then make synovial fluid(with other stuff). I spent a lot of time talking to sports medicine people and to my friend who is a biochemist early in my long distance hiking life.
Strengthen all those muscles around the knee.
I only use arnica cream and homeopathic pills for pain. Works for me and no nasty side effects like ibuprofen.
