[pct-l] alcohol stoves will be banned this year

Any stove without a metering valve to shut it off completely will most
likely be banned. It is only a matter of when.

That means not only alcohol and wood-burners are out, but also stoves using
solid fuel tablets like Esbit and Sterno.

As has been stated previously, it looks like a good year to be using a
canister stove or going stoveless. This is a perfect opportunity to try
stoveless while still carrying your canister stove. When ( or if) you are
comfortable with stoveless meals, ship the canister stove home and sell the
canister to another hiker, or drop it in a hiker barrel somewhere.

White gas stoves will still be legal, but I got rid of mine years ago due
to the continual risks of fuel spillage and/or evaporation.

And please DO NOT forget your CA Campfire Permit this year. For the past
several years, the SEKI and Yosemite rangers have been actively asking to
see those, in addition to your hiking permit and bear can.
