Bears are creatures of habit, just like humans. They tend to keep
looking for food in places where they found it before.

Stealth camping won't guarantee that you won't have bear problems, but
camping in an established area frequented by weekenders in problem
bear regions almost guarantees you will.

Also, though the focus of this list is thru hiking, remember that
thrus are a tiny percentage of the users of the trail, at least in the
scenic areas. The behaviour of the weekenders has much more impact
than the behaviour of the thrus, just by sheer numbers.
