[pct-l] Backpack Theft

Hi.

Thank you for all the great info. After 20 years of wanting to go finally I will be nobo this year.

Around here (Humboldt County, CA) the towns are full of tweakers who steal anything not bolted down. An unattended backpack left outside a store would disappear rather quickly. I don't know if towns along the PCT are the same.

As a solo hiker I'm concerned about what to do with my backpack while in a store resupplying or pigging out at a restaurant. Do they tolerate hikers bringing backpacks inside?

Any tips from PCT veterans on securing a backpack greatly appreciated.
