Along the same lines, I carry large and small corn pads.  The are oval with
a hole in the middle.  By wearing them, it takes the pressure off the
blistered area.  I put duct tape over them to keep them secure.

One additional tip that worked wonderfully for me: I very rarely get
blisters - wear larger shoes etc. but on those rare occasions when I get a
blister between toes, besides treating the blister, I put I nice soft ear
plug between toes at base of toes next to foot. It causes no irritation and
just barely keeps toes from touching allowing healing to take place with no
further rubbing. Worked great for me.
