[pct-l] Ursack S29 a step closer...

I don't get why this thread has turned into a thread about how we should
properly use a bear can. That somehow, if the Ursack is re-approved by the
proper authorities, it somehow will lead to bears being killed for getting
into hiker food. I don't see the connection between the two issues and why
people are implying they are linked.

I've been hiking in the Sierra Nevada for over 20 years. I've never lost
food to a bear or any other creature. Since the late 1990's, when
required, I carry a bear can. When allowed, I've used an Ursack in the
past. My experience is that when used properly, which is different then
properly using a Garcia Can, it can protect your food from bears. If you
want to talk about failures, bears have gotten into Bear Vaults. They have
had to redesign the lid more than once as a result. Yet no one talks about
people using Bear Vaults instead of the never failed Garcia Can being
somehow irresponsible. Thats becausethey are currently allowed everywhere
without restriction. So whats the difference here if they re-allow the
Ursack?

Or is it that some people don't understand that we are talking about how
the Ursack is on the road to possibly being re-allowed back into Yosemite.
And if allowed, how it will be used by many of us.
