*Fishing in North Washington;* I have done some fiahing in the North Cascades of Washington. Forget the rivers, to small and to hard to catch fish. The high lakes can be fished, some are great some are straril. (no fish) It's fairly easy to tell which ones by the fish jumping in the morning and evening. Fly fishing is probably you best oprion, but it's nothing like the high Searias. I have used a line, bobber, leader, and fly with no pole and it works OK, flys are usually a black fly, masiqueto, or something else that is common. Most of the alpine lakes don't allow live bate. The out of state Washington Fishing lic is not cheep, fishhunt.dfw.wa.gov/wdfw/licenses_fees.html *$84.50* is a lot of food. :) If you go this route, make sure you have something to cook the fish in and enough fuel to cook with, most of the PCT in Washington is in the no Fire zone, but there are area that you can make a camp fire to cook on, just know the regs and where you are. Most of the North Cascades is no fires above 5000'. But in late summer you may also hit no fire bans because of dry conditions. A south bounder would most likely not have these issues, but then making a fire in snow is a lot of work too. Wolfman *QUOTE* /I was wondering about that as well. The fishing part, not the SOBO part. I am also familiar with Nor Cal but not So Cal or OR/WA. When do the fishing folks get their gear? Is there fishing enough before Kennedy Meadows to make carrying gear worth it? Is it worth getting the licenses for OR and WA? Pretty sure my CA fishing license will hold no water in the other states. Grin. Thanks Vicki In a message dated 4/6/2014 7:25:40 A.M. Are there lakes & streams along the trail or relatively close (</= 1 mile) in WA & OR? I am familiar with CA. Thanks, Dan/ *QUOTE*
