I thoroughly wash pot, bowl and spoon when I get to town (about every 5
days on average).  I only cook dinner and have put a number of cook-less
dinners on the menu.
Being a desert rat, I practice water conservation.  I don't cook more than
we can eat, then lick the dishes clean.     I rinse with a small amount of
water (no soap).  And I make sure everything is bone dry before it gets
packed away.
