I do the same as Jeff, the pot is only used to heat water. If you use the better brands of zip lock bags that are just a bit heavier than the bargain bags, you will have no problem pouring your hot water into them. The other thing you can do to make life a little easier on the trail, is to soak your food for an hour or so before eating and you won't need to heat as much water to rehydrate your meal.

Don't use a dish or cup or bowl or plate. Use the zip-loc bag you
packed the food in and eat out of it. You can rinse or just seal it
up! The pot never has anything in it but water to boil...
