BUYING SHOES

The salespeople will try to sell you shoes which are heavier than you need.
 They think backpacking with running shoes is a bad idea.  They’ll also
push the waterproof/breathable shoes.  Don’t buy into the hype.  Don’t
assume that the salespeople know more than you do.  Unless they’ve
thru-hiked the PCT or CDT in the last few years, you know way more than
they do.  You’ve done your research and you know what you want.  State what
features you need, and then try on as many shoes as you can stand.
