Given the choice between being locked out of public land or having no rescue service
I would pick no rescue.  When I got my backcountry permit to solo up and spend the night
in Tenaya canyon I was told just that, "No one will come looking for you".  I told them I
was fine with that.  I don't want a nanny looking out for me.
