Almost 20 years on the list ( I think it's 19 years old) has me say, 
"Let the games begin!"

Triping and snarling and sneering happen every year about this time.  
Just check in and delete mean spirited messages.  Don't read them.  They 
will pass...

If you're new to the list ask your questions.  To the "old hands" 
they'll seem repetitive and naive.  So what.  What keeps this list out 
of the hands of curmudgeons and social isolates who border on trolling 
is new members asking questions with bright eyes and bushy tails, all 
caught up in the dream of a long hike.

That's what matters...
