If you can get to Reno (casino shuttles, etc) from South Lake Tahoe, you
can hop on Amtrak and take it all the way to Bend. You'll change trains in
Sacramento, and at some point in Oregon you'll change to an Amtrak bus at
Chemult. Should be about $100, although it'll take over 18 hours. Amtrak
also has a bus stop in SLT that will take you directly to Sacramento for a
few more dollars. Check out the Amtrak website for all your options.
