Ah, so here's the post that has me hot under the collar. And hotter still
after reading it thru.
*
*
*"It is the apparent tactic of the IMBA (International Mountain Bike*
*Association) and their cohorts to tenaciously take over communities by
wearing down their opposition by creating non stop controversy, as the
"bikes on the PCT folks" are trying to here"*
*
*
Is it not through the very process of "creating controversy" that we create
lasting and meaningful change in this country for the better? Probably 100
years ago, pro-woman opinion anywhere would have been deemed rabble-rousing
(but no longer), 50 years ago, pro-black thoughts would have made the
majority squirm (we know better now), and maybe five years ago, many an
email list-server (though I doubt this one) would have banned anything
remotely pro-gay. Politics, my friends, aren't just on the national scene.
They are on the PCT itself. If you ban a voice simply because it does not
agree with your thoughts, that is not just un-American, it is intolerable.
Absolutely intolerable.
While I object even to your first sentence, "*Discussions about allowing
bikes on the PCT is off topic on this list*", it's the second sentence, *"Do
not post anything advocating opening the PCT to bicycles" *that really
makes me shake my head. As an occasional contributor to this list and a
real supporter of PCT hikers, it pains me to leave, but until this policy
is changed, please remove me from further posts.
Brick, as I won't be receiving posts any longer, please inform me directly
if the policy is changed.
