Good thinking outside the box, but no. Gotta prove intent, and if the
fact one possesses dope is hidden from the others in the vehicle,
there is no crime to the others. Misdemeanor possession in one
person's pack or on their person will not somehow be stuck on everyone
else in the vehicle unless there is some evidence of collusion.

You are right about crossing the border, especially coming back. Drug
sniffing dogs sniff for drugs. They can find very small amounts, or
very well packaged drugs.
