Hi Elizabeth,
I'm a beginner, so to speak, as in I've never done anything so monumental as a 4000km thru hike, but i'm not really bothered about it. I'm going to be taking it easy during the first couple of weeks to let my body adjust and 'learn the ropes' but I reckon we'll all get used to it pretty quickly.
I am also hiking solo (26 year old male) but am staringt 10ish days before you on the 20th April, so can't help out with the partner issue, but as I understand it lots of people will be starting around when you are so I wouldn't worry about it too much. Are you going to Kick Off? That would be the ideal place to meet a hiking partner.
Patrick
