Oh, you want an opinion! We got a lot of those! ;-)
I Hike in shorts whenever possible. I do not wear cotton unless it is
already cool enough to not sweat profusely like I normally do.
Stretch panels on rugged pants don't make sense to me because that material
is not as wear resistant as good polyester breathable or wicking clothing,
the latex or rubber in the material that allows for stretch will break down
first and then the fabric may begin to just unravel.
If you feel swampy, you are swampy. Dry, light, and comfortable are what I
am looking for.
If it seems be a gimmick, it probably is a gimmick (if looks, walks, and
quacks like a duck, then it must be a duck.) There are less expensive good
quality items to purchase that don't have Bear's name on them or the
expensive terms "survival" or "tactical" on them.
Pants have a place on trail, but for me, and I can only speak for myself, I
avoid them as much as possible. There is already enough swamp ass in the
world without me adding to it. :-)
