I was made a convert to the Jetboil system a couple of weeks ago while
doing Section B with
two friends. So I'm planning to get one soon. In late July-early August,
I'm going to do a
slightly modified JMT with my teenage daughter and her friend. I'm
planning to resupply at
Red's Meadow and Muir Trail Ranch. I'm looking for advice on canister size
and resupply.

1) Assuming we just heat up water for rehydrating dinners, some breakfast
cereal, and the
occasional hot drink, will one small canister last for 3 people for the ~6
days we'll take for
each segment (start to Red's; Red's to Muir; Muir to exit)?

2) Can I count on purchasing a small jetboil canister at Red's Meadow and
Muir Trail Ranch?

Thanks! Happy Trails!
dana

p.s. for the geezers... When I was my daughter's age and hiked these trails
(very early 1970's), we
had never heard of permits or bear canisters or water filters, we cooked
over a fire, carried tube tents
but always cowboy camped (but didn't call it that), etc. etc. Fun to think
about.
Sunshine on the granite is still the same, however.
