No. For quite few thrus nowadays the trail itself is something to be tolerated in between town stops where they get to party with their peeps. For some it's not about the view from Selden Pass, but whether or not they can drink a beer per mile from Saufley's to Anderson's.

There's a different feel to the trail when you hike off-season.
