Personally, I use Aqua Mira. I think most people would agree that on the
PCT you will be reasonably safe with any good filter however.

Many PCT hikers get giardia. I'm one of them.

I highly recommend critical evaluation of  "Giardia Lamblia and Giardiasis
with Particular Attention to the Sierra Nevada." It's not a peer-reviewed
scientific paper. Rockwell is wrong on many of his key points and the CDC,
FDA, EPA do not agree with his conclusions.  Those interested in my
