I was totally impressed with Ranger Brian's demonstration of how to use a Wag Bag. sitting up from I saw it all and let me tell you, wait no I wont.

I did have some confusion as to how Crazy Jack was able to aim his stuff into that small canister he uses, maybe we could get him to give a demonstration.

They are not joking about bringing all your stuff out, last year they said 3 and 3/4 tons or 7500 pounds came off the trail, just imagine if every one dug a hole or used the smear technique, are you imaginings ?

I must agree that we are the front line to address others personal short coming, some behaviors are inexcusable and intolerable.

I myself watch smokers, they like to flick those butts when done, I will point it out to them and ask, "did you drop this? and then let them know it takes 20 years for that filter to degrade, and many chances for birds or fish to eat it.

So now I will become the poop patrolman , and if you don't have a wag bag, new or used , I will make them pick one up and carry it out.

I heard a new term from Becky, "Miicro Trash", those little pieces that get torn off and fly away if not attended to properly.

I am a bit confused as to how you can come from Crabtree and not need a permit, but a PCT hiker needs a Whitney Zone permit, someone out there knows .

Their approach to this hike is a bit different, especially the food aspect, pretzels for breakfast, if leaving early. the main Idea is eat small , often and when your body is accustom to eating. Also the old adage don't try new things you never had or because backpacker mag says its a good meal, take what you know you will eat.

If you every get a chance to hear Crazy Jack and his better half Becky talk about their 170 plus trips up this trail you will defiantly come back with some gem of knowledge. These two are awesome. Anyone that has their own F-18 and takes pictures of Whitney cant be all that bad.
