Cheers all,

Now at Warner Springs... quite possibly the last, or one of the last NOBO thru hikers. Mama said walking wasn't crowded... and she was right!

The hiker TLC at the Warner Springs Community Center is for all intent and purposes finished... except if you ask real nice, it isn't. Ha!

A gent by the name of Roy, obligated me by going out of his way and cooking up 6 of their FFA prize winning beef burgers. There were no buns available, so he got a loaf of frozen French garlic/onion bread out of the freezer and sliced it while frozen and then thawed the slices in the microwave. Roy managed to nuke the burgers in the frying pan and in spite of the charbroil outcome they went down like lobster.

Roy really did do me good, as he originally came in to the Center to work on another grant. Thanks Roy, for the awesome effort in feeding this hungry hiker on the fly.

A shower is $8.00, and is fantastic, with a great stream and warm water to boot. There's 2 stalls behind the building. A large bottle of shampoo and a large bottle of body wash was at the ready in each stall. Fortunately for me, the water was left on even though the place didn't open until 1 pm. Laundry is $6.00 a load. The Center landed a grant enabling them to put in a water heater and obtain a washer and a dryer.

A sign posted under the Scissors Crossing bridge states the Center's hours are 9 am - 3 pm, which is no longer in effect. Around the 19th or 20th of May, hiker support operations wound down.

Their typical year round hours are 1pm - 4 pm, Mon., Wed., and Fri.
