I always hike with antibiotic petroleum jelly, like triaminic. Most skin
rashes are bacterial infections. Some are fungal but most bacterial. I use
a baby wipe after a poo to clean the area. The bacteria from residual poo
plus a warm sweaty environment can cause quite a nasty rash. Babys used to
get this before the days of Pampers and wipes. Most of the time, it's
bacterial so go with the antibiotic first. If no relief then try the
antifungal. I only hike with Triaminic ointment. Never had a fungal rash.
Triaminic is also good for cuts and other first aid.
