Wanda, You will still need a Wilderness Permit. Last summer I got one at the Ranger Station in Lone Pine.that was good for the PCT or JMT all the way to Wawona in Yosemite N.P., which was my planned destination. They want to know your beginning location and your planned ending destination and planned dates. With that permit, it was not required that I be on the PCT - I could ride on any of the adjacent trails. Roving Rangers checked that I had a permit twice during my ride. I was checked once that I also had a bear canister. There was no charge, that I can recall, for the permit.
Have a Great Hike.

Subject: [pct-l] Traveling south from Ebbot's Pass to Tuolumne Meadows
I will be accessing the Tahoe Yosemite Trail at Ebbot's Pass starting on the PCT. My trip is planned for late July. I plan on dropping over to Kennedy Meadows for a resupply and heading south on the TYT at that point. I called today and spoke to a "ranger" at the Carson Ranger District which governs the Carson Iceberg Wilderness. I was told that Ebbot's Pass is a non-quota entry point and that no permit is required. Having hiked many, many miles within Yosemite, my red flag immediately went up. Does anyone know if I will indeed be allowed to walk into Yosemite without a reciprocity permit from another agency. Suggestions, concerns??? Thanks, Whimpie
