Ron,

I hiked out of Whitewater toward Mesa Wind Farm in early May this year. As
I entered the canyons, I heard what I had to assume were dinosaurs, lost to
the ages. Eventually, I spotted about a dozen cows tromping right up the
trail a few curves ahead. They watched me curiously while bellowing across
the windy gaps to one another. On occasion I had to shout and wave my
trekking poles at them to get them to shift, which they seemed to resent.
The trail was in shambles wherever they walked, but at least it wasn't hard
to follow.

I took a break at the top of the ridge before descending to the wind farm,
and about two minute after sitting under a bush, a huge bull came
stampeding up the hillside about three feet away, then charged directly
down the valley. They are up there of their own volition, and a fun
additional challenge in that section.

Sad they weren't actually dinosaurs, though.
