[pct-l] women alone on the trail.

These are excellent points. I've sort of been avoiding solo backpacking for
years, partially because it scares me, and partially because it worries
everyone I know (it's hard to tell my boyfriend "hey, I'm going out into
the mountains alone for a few days, don't worry").

Though, since working in Yosemite this summer, I've gone on a few solo
trips, and I'd have to agree, that I generally feel pretty safe! I've
always preferred day hiking alone, so it's been good for me to push myself
by doing something that I have generally considered to be out of my limits
:)

Definitely still have a hard time going to sleep at night. One way I've
sort of dealt with this fear is that I've made myself walk around in my
campsite area in the dark with my headlamp, just to be out there. Last
month I saw some spooky eyes, and instead of being weirded out by it all
night I just crept around until I figured out it was a deer.

Cheers,
Lindsey
