A full 2L soda bottle or even a smart water bottle have worked for me when I can't get to a foam roller. Might be a good on trail solution.

It was a bother to pack but it improves my leg function enough that it was worth the trouble.  A Bear Vault might work as a replacement, I will have to check that this year.
