Hi Brick,

My usual email address (philippe.gouvet at orange.fr) continues creating
problems. Yet I would like to send the following message. Could you
please forward it to the list, or tell me what you think of this?

Best,
Philippe

Hi folks,

I would hate alarming people without a reason. Yet I have a few
reasons to be alarmed. And I need your help.

On April 9 I started a thru-hike attempt in Campo, with a hiker by the
name of Alaska (Dan Young, lives in Anchorage). We hiked for a few
days together. Then we lost touch, and I ended up quitting at Casa de
Luna.
Alaska stopped blogging on May 8 (http://www.danswalk.net), after
announcing that he was back on the trail, after a few miserable days
in Big Bear, seriously sick with some form of infection. No news
since. Nothing. He didn't show up in Agua Dulce.
We had exchanged a few emails, but he didn't reply to the last three I
sent him, asking for news. He didn't reply either to Marc Fendel
(Gourmet), who is currently in Kennedy Meadows.
Alaska is single, and I do not know whether he has family. I hope you
will agree that I can reasonably be concerned about this situation.
I am back in France, where I live, and do not know what to do. Should
the authorities be told about this? Any help or advice will be most
welcome. I do hope I am wrong to worry.

Philippe
