If you don't want to summit Whitney, I suggest that exit at "Trail
Pass" and leave your car at the Horseshoe Meadows Trailhead.

If you do exit via Trail Crest, and the Whitney trail to Whitney
Portal I believe you will need a Whitney permit in addition to your
widnerness permit.
