Yes horses are big and scary to hikers. Yes commercial pack outfits, and
their long horse/trains cause lots of problems in the high use areas

Yes the Back Country Horseman have helped the trail a bunch, and they are
great organization with great members.

The reality is that a hiker is not very likely to ever meet a recreational
horseman on the PCT, and if they do, the interaction is most probably going
to be very friendly.

Our list members who are horse people don't need to counter attack every
time a hiker mentions horses, and hikers aught to recognize the difference
between commercial pack outfits and our fellow recreational trail advocates
that enjoy (and help maintain) the trail with their large 4 legged friends.

Can't we all just get along?
